Its been a long time coming but we have finally gotten started! Yesterday we planted seeds for our summer harvest: corn, tomatoes, several different squashes, bush beans, zucchini, melons, pumpkins, and much more. It felt so good to be getting my hands dirty after years of working in a cubicle. Miss M wasn't too interested but she is young yet. Next year no doubt she'll love getting all dirty.
Our goals are simple right now: grow healthy fruits and vegetables. The majority of our seeds are certified organic by Oregon Tilth but since we can't prove the land has been chemical-free we can't be certified organic...yet. That is on our list of goals.
It has been a cold, wet spring so we're not sure how well the gardens will do this first time out, but we are on our way!
